Our name is a nod to our star ingredient. Derived from the Spanish and Portuguese word sebo (meaning tallow), we’ve taken this time-honored tradition and given it a fresh, phonetic twist. Simple name, ancestral roots, incredible skin.

THE INCEPTION

SAY-BO wasn't born in a boardroom or a lab. It was born in a dark parking garage in Kansas circa 2020.

Most people spent lockdown baking sourdough; Gabi spent it making poor life choices on a longboard. To avoid a head-on collision with a concrete slab during an after-hours downhill session, she took a spill that turned her right shoulder into a raw, skinless disaster.

Four days later—sporting a massive open wound and enough adrenaline to ignore the pain—she went on a first date with Katie. Gabi was embarrassed, wearing a razorback tank top to keep the fabric from fusing to her skin, and hoping she didn't look as "disgusting" as she felt.

THE GAMBLE

At the time, Gabi had been rendering beef fat in her kitchen, sourced from butcher friends she’d made during the height of the madness. She knew tallow was bio-available, but putting it on an open, burning wound was a "f*** it" moment. With no clear answers on Google and no products on the market that weren't packed with synthetic trash, she had her roommate slather the cold, buttery tallow onto her back.

It felt incredible. It was also a mess—a mixture of melted fat and blood that threatened to ruin every shirt she owned. But she stayed consistent.

THE RESULT

Katie didn't run away. For some reason, she found the whole "edgy DIY wound care" vibe endearing. She’s been by Gabi’s side ever since. Five years later, they’re engaged, and that gnarly back scar? It’s gone. Vanished. Tallow did the job when nothing else could.

THE MISSION

Today, Gabi and Katie are the duo behind SAY-BO. They aren't here to give you a "spa experience." They’re here because they’ve seen tallow fix the stuff that actually hurts. From winter-cracked lips to the kind of road rash that keeps you up at night, SAY-BO believes in skincare that is healthy, effective, and zero B.S.
